God loves righteousness, so He hates sin because sin is unrighteous. The wordly concept of God being all-love and nothing but love is not true to the Scriptures. It is a false god and a false teaching. God is love, but He is not all love and nothing else. He is love, but He is also holy. Holiness and sin do not go together because they are against each other. Sin is breaking God's Law. Sin is a spit in the face of God Who has been benevolent to us and given us life and air to breath, water to drink, food to eat, and clothes on our bodies, homes to live in, etc. It is almost like we spit in His face whenever we choose to sin against Him.
Hell was created for the devil and his angels as a place of eternal punishment for them for their rebellion against Him in Heaven. Hell was not meant for mankind, but only for the devil and his angels originally. Whenver mankind chose to go the same path as Satan and sin against God, man sentenced himself to this place called Hell. To save mankind from the mess that we got ourselves into, God sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for our sins on Calvary by shedding His blood and dying for our sins on the cross. Christ bore our sins in His own body. He knew no sin(because He was sinless and perfect) and yet, He became sin for us. He tasted of God's wrath on the cross. God punished His Son for the wrong that we did against Him, and Jesus willingly took the punishment for us out of the love that He had, God's love. This was God's love towards humanity demonstrated to us at Calvary. Not everyone will be treated the same, in punishments or rewards, because God is just and must reward every man according to their works. Works do not save us or get us out of Hell(see Romans 4:5, and Ephesians 2:8-9), only believing on Jesus Christ saves us and gets us to Heaven, but works do determine a Christians degree of rewards in Heaven(for example, Christians who lived for Christ with their whole heart and were strong soulwinners will be rewarded more than those Christians who did little for the Lord and lived for themselves more than for God) and a non-Christians degree of punishment in Hell(for example, someone who heard the gospel multiple times and yet rejected it over and over will burn a lot hotter in Hell than someone who did not hear a clear presentation of the gospel).
God's love is shown to us at the blood-soaked cross of Calvary where the Lamb of God hanged and bled and died for our transgressions, but God's wrath and fury will be shown in it's final and eternal demonstration in the lake of fire towards those who do not believe on His Son to save them from their sins. The only hope we have of escaping Hellfire is to turn to the resurrected Christ, Jesus the Son of God. The Bible says "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13). It's simple. Call upon Jesus Christ and ask Him to save you from your sins, and trust Him and Him alone to save you, and He will. We can't get to Heaven by our good deeds or by religion, but only by God's grace through faith alone in the blood of Christ. Faith alone in Jesus Christ is the Biblical way to Heaven. |
