As he said, anything that doesn't contribute to discussion counts. While those phrases might be arguably complimentary, I think that most people would admit they're just other forms of "EWD." The problem people have with the practice isn't the specific wording, it's the intention behind the post, which is a selfish one. Trying to get first post by putting down a stupid place holder phrase is an attempt by the poster to either use the thread for his own benefit (by upping post count) or to take attention away from the topic of the thread, usually a video, and focusing the attention on the poster instead (by saying "look at me, I got 1st post).
I don't necessarily have a problem with some people saying "oh man you've been telling me about this for months, I can't wait to see it. I'll let you know what I think after I get through watching it" and then editing that with a review a few minutes later on, but I think we all know that that happens with relative infrequency compared to the people who say "sick 1st ewd" and then never come back.
edit: I also wish we could ban people who post like 10 comments a day saying "this video was cool." Like people who joined April 2008 and have like 10 posts a day.
